Long Distance Relationships?
This is a ridiculously long story, but due to the fact that no one wants to spend four hours reading about my personal woes, I’ll shorten it.
About mid-January, I was considering studying abroad in the UK (I’m from the US), and so my best friend decided to put me in touch with her cousin, who happens to be British. Basically, she decided that he was not only going to be my homie while I was out there, but that we eventually just needed to get married, because apparently we were perfect for each other.
She told him about me, intriguing him, so he told her to have me add him on Facebook, which I did. Freaked me out (I don’t do stuff like that), but I added him, and we immediately started talking. And it hasn’t stopped since, despite the fact that I won’t be making it out to London.
Thing is, I totally like this guy. If he lived nearby—hell, if he lived Stateside—I’d be totally up for trying, but I don’t even know if it’s worth even thinking about. I’m going abroad either this winter or next spring to visit, but I just don’t know if I should expect anything.
Clearly, this all has to be mutual, but I’m more just curious if anyone out here on the internet has met someone online, actually dated that person, and ended up in a long term relationship. CAN you have an LTR when you just know each other over various messaging apps and sites?
